16 tricks that will make your kids’ studies fun and easy

16 tricks that will make your kids’ studies fun and easy

Lots of information, tight schedules, and loads of writing aren’t things that make studying easy. It’s no wonder your kids may have a hard time getting through all their tasks, managing their time correctly, and just getting a hold of themselves. That’s why we  have compiled a list of 16 studying hints that will help your children manage everything and not burn themselves out.

Wake up early in the morning

  • Schedule a cool breakfast that will make your kids want to get up and go eat it.
  • Drink a glass of water before sleep — this relaxes the body and improves metabolism.
  • Pick a warm blanket — the perfect sleeping temperature is 61-70°F (16-21°C).
  • Let your children sleep in complete darkness — melatonin is generated when there’s no light.
  • Put your alarm clock on the other side of the room — that way you’ll have to get up to turn it off.
  • Turn off your cell phone (you know why).

Learn everything, remember it, and don’t overheat

  • To absorb the most information and yet let your brain rest a bit, it’s better to follow this method: 25 minutes of hard work, then a 5-minute break. Every third break should last 20 minutes.
  • To remember something, let your kid read it out loud and clear, not paying attention to the speed.
  • If something’s always taking your kids’ attention away from their studies, play some quiet instrumental music in the background, like this: Hans Zimmer — Pandora.
  • Remembering a new schedule is always difficult. Take a picture of it, and set it as the wallpaper on your kid’s phone. This way, when they look at its screen they’ll see their timetable and have no trouble remembering it.
  • A 10- to 20-minute walk before studies will make the blood run faster and the brain work better. A morning walk before school is a great option.
  • To read something faster, read only the first and the last paragraphs.
  • It’s been scientifically proven that mint stimulates the brain and improves concentration. You can also chew some gum or eat a mint sweet. Put some into your kid’s schoolbag.
  • Some subjects are better learned through documentaries, like history or biology.

Post-it notes will help your kid remember what they need to do today

If all the workbooks look the same, write the names of the subjects on their sides or label them with bright colors

Lacking motivation? Put some treats on each paragraph of the text!

Find a solution

If a math problem gives your kid a headache, use wolframalpha: write down your problem, and the site will show you the detailed solution.

The best time for studies

School classes begin early in the morning for a reason. Our brain is much more efficient in the first half of the day than in the second one. Better not postpone anything for the evening.

How to remember historical dates

  1. Let your kid draw a timeline.
  2. First, put major events on it, then add minor ones.
If your kid knows the dates of major events, it will be easier for them to remember minor ones.

Google like a pro

Google helps when searching for something, but there’s so much rubbish there as well. Teach your kids to use Google Scholar to only search for relevant study materials.
